When counseling a patient what do we need to be aware of when considering the sex of the patient (male, female) and then what do we need to be aware of when we then consider the gender of the client (the result of expected gender roles) especially if the gender of the patient is not the same as their biological sex?
We need to be aware of the gender of an individual while counseling as many of the problems in an individuals life are driven by their specific gender roles and gender expectation within a society, the neglect ion of which could lead to an an ineffective treatment of the given client.
Also, especially if the client is not as same as the biological sex of the client, then there needs to be an understand and arity between the patient and the counselor over the matters that define their roles and the roles they associate with and the problems henceforth.
