Developmental Stages: 1. If the Oral stage is not sufficiently resolved and the child becomes fixated within this stage what type of personality would we expect to see? 2. 1. If fixation occurs at the oral stage, Freud believed the individual would have issues with dependency or aggression. Oral personalities engage in such oral behaviors, particularly when under stress and can result in problems with drinking, eating, smoking, or nail biting.

2. According to Freud, fixation at the anal stage can result in two outcomes. The child may develop into an anal expulsive personality type, which is characterised by messy, disorganised and rebellious behaviour. Conversely, a child may develop into an anal retentive personality who hates mess, is obsessively tidy, punctual and respectful of authority.
