" How have you experienced role fixation in your own life, or seen it enacted by someone else?Specifically, discuss some of the reasons why we may experience difficulty in successfully switching between roles (flexibility) for different situations?

Role fixation is acting out specific role and that only role no matter of the situation might require.

Recently being partly a houswife, a mother, doing a bit of career I handeled almost all the responsibilities. Even when I could see that other family members can carry out that responsibility but I tried to be strong women and decided not to complain. I think this question has given me to ponder about the same.

Reasons that we may experience difficuilty in role switching:

1) A person may attempt to be perfect and think that he is soley responsible for handling the situation.

2) Person may not give priority to self or not thinking what the situation demands.

3) Ego of the person may interefere such about what other people would comment about he /she changes the role

4) A person may fail to see the risk associated with the fixed thinking.
