Answer. AUD stands for Alcohol Use Disorder. I t is basically when a person uses alcogol exceeding the normal dosage allowed for a normal person. The person becomes dependent on alcohol physically an sychologically both and they can not live without using iton daily basis.

There are both short term and long term effects of AUD. some of the long term effects include :

>death of brain cells, which further leads to brain disorders and the levels of mental and physical functions deteriorate.

> cirrhosis ( liver damage ), this is a severe medical condition that may need liver transplant for treatment.>

> pancreatitis,it is very dangerous and is caused due to inflammation of the pancreas. It can also lead to nerve damage.

> Tolerance, a long-term effect of alcohol. In this body becomes used to higher and higher doses of alcohol after a long period of overconsumption. This results in consuming more and more alcohol each time they consume. This makes it possible for long-term drinkers to consume amounts of alcohol that are dangerous .Tolerance can cause dependence and then to addiction or alcoholism in some individuals.
