how to cultural factors and traditional gender ideologies influence the supply of and demand for women political leaders
Despite advancement in women;s level of education and participation in the paid economy over las 20 years, women have made little significant progress with respect to their participation in politics. The primary reason for such abnormality is the cultural and gender ideological barriers prevailed in the society inherently. From cultural point of view women are being treated differently from men. Traditional societies have clearly demarcated the roles to be played by women and men. Women are to be confined in domestic or private sphere and have to mange family, children and religion. On the other hand Men are in public sphere performing various outdoor duties.
Similarly biological determinism plays a significant role in defining roles of male and females as far as gender ideologies is concerned. Hence men, not women are more naturally suited for politics.
