What do you feel are the causes behind the high rate of divorce? What is the impact on society?

The society is witnessing high rate of divorce for various reasons which causing a great havoc on the society and the family system. The first and foremost reason is the economic independence which has made the women more independent than before. This independence has given more power at home and in the society. Second reason is the changing family system where begetting children do not stop people from looking for new partners, thus their needs revolve around the pleasure principle and not the matured adult who tries to display the belonging needs. This freedom in choosing multiple partners without taking the children into account causes more divorce. The third reason is the changing social norms and the increased use of technology and social networking sites that make people live a double life which causes lots of trust issues.

The impacts are quite hard on the children and they miss the opportunity to live with both the biological parents. Children who grow up with the biological parents have normal development. This affects their emotional and psychological wellbeing and leads to deviant behaviors. The family system is becoming more diverse where lots of new family structures evolve thus posing new challenges to the governments in terms of making more policies and laws as well as spend more money on the dependent children and single parents. It also brings more trust issues in the society where people do not last long in a relationship.
