Flaws: Orton-Gillingham derivative methods, such as Alphabetic Phonics or Project Read, revealed a dozen studies with a variety of methodological flaws.

Lack of efficacy: There are no empirical studies examining the efficacy of the approach. Thus is no direct research evidence to determine its effectiveness.

Variation in results: Results obtained using OG approach vary drastically with inconsistencies.
