CHARACTER AND HABITS:

Character is the behavioral trait that consists of moral qualities that are specific and unique to every individual. Every person's character different in the way in which they have been brought up with. It is influenced from our parents, elderly persons in the family, teachers, and other people whom we would admire. Some of the charaters include being kind, humble, honest, helping, lovable, trust worthy, patient, etc. Charaters could also be bad like, being jealous, impatient, arrogant, cunning, cruel, etc.

Habits are regular and repeated behaviors that could form in to a person's character. For example, if a person keeps speaking the truth and never lies to anyone, it becomes his habit and later this habit would become his character, that will make him a honest person.

According to Sigmund Freud, the structure of personality consists of Id, Ego and Superego.

The Id is present since birth and operates on Pleasure principle

The Ego is developed by 3 years and operates on Reality principle

The Superego is developed by 5 years and operates on Morality principle

The character should be imparted since the childhood, where the children has to be taught about moral principles of what is right and what is wrong. They should also be instructed on what is to be done and what is not to be done.

For example: If a child behaves in a very rude manner with his sibling and friends, he must be told by his parents or teachers, that it is not the correct way and should also be taught to behave in a kind manner with everyone and not to be harsh to anyone. If this behavior is made in to a habit, then this child would develop in to a person with kind character.

It is very important to acquire a good character as it projects the true nature of a person. Every one of us must follow the moral values in our lives that would make us a person of good charater.
