Music notation system is any system that allows you to create a visual representation of aurally perceived music played either with instruments or songs sung by humans; by the use of written, printed, or otherwise-produced symbols.

The development of musical notation system is important because it allowed greater clarity for music. It achieved this by indicating the sound level that each instrument should be played as well as the knowledge of how loud the music is supposed to be played.
