Characteristics of perpetrators:

  • In most cases mother is the perpetrator , as evident by researches.
  • perpetrator suffers from personality disorders or mood/bipolar disorders
  • she/he may have a history of abuse (emotional or sexual abuse during childhood)
  • Can have sound knowledge of applied medical knowledge
  • The perpetrator's interpersonal relationships are questionable/unstable

Characteristics of the victims:

  • the age when the victimization starts is around toddler hood
  • Can have any medical illness /developmental delay
  • Children displaying psychogenic symptoms , such as, headache, stomachache, seizures
  • they can show signs of battering, physical abuse,neglect and delay in physical developments
  • In the absence of mother/perpetrator, they display no illness as such.
