Custodial model: Predominant during the 1940s, model emphasizes the safety, order, and discipline which subordinate the prisoners to the right of jail warden. Discipline is an important factor in custodial model and it should be strictly followed?.

Rehabilitation model: This model emphasizes the provision of treatment programs and services that are designed to reform the offender. It was developed in 1950s but is out of favor today.

Reintegration model: The incarceration model followed today, it emphasizes maintenance of the offender’s ties to family and community as a method of reform, recognizing that the offender will be eventually returning to community.
