Does language shape culture or vice versa? How does the way we speak shape the way we view a particular culture?
Linguistics has remained as one of the most researched areas, where, a lot of attention has been placed on the manner in which culture and language would be affecting each other. It was seen by whorf in a research that people speaking a particular language would be seeing speakers of other language in a particular manner that would be different from their own. This occurs as a result of language differences,
The traditions, habits, culture, lifestyle etc is picked up from one or the other person present in the society. This would be affecting the manner in which people interact with one another, along with the manner in which they think and shaping the ways they talk.
It is being thought that it is the culture, that has most likely shaped the thoughts as well as habits of the people. Also, the culture influences language. Because of the differences in language, in the manner information would be included or excluded in the figure of speech, people would be thinking about events in a manner that is different from normal.
The syntax of a language would be describing the manner in which nouns are considered. It is considered that language, thought as well as culture would be forming three corners of a triangle, with one completing the other.
Though, the consideration that people would be thinking in terms of their language, may be correct. But, people do think even without having words.nas the colour spectrum is continous, language isn’t.hence, language only gives us the he words to put our ideas in an organised form, whereas, the ideashad already been built.
