Using the research on the factors that increase the likelihood of conformity, discuss how you might encourage a close friend of yours to stop trying to conform to social pressures, like drinking alcohol at parties.

Answer #1

I might encourage a close friend of mine to stop trying to conform to social pressures, like drinking alcohol at parties by providing him with the reasons for quitting drinking and conforming to social pressures that make him drink such as the association of alcoholism with diseases such as lung cancer, liver cirrhosis etc. I will persuade him that by becoming chronically ill he may become an economic burden and his relations with his family and friends may suffer.
