What is your opinion about formative assessment that grades are not as effective as feedback?

In my view, feedback creates dialogue between the instructor and student, allowing students to actively participate in their assessment. This component , however, is missing in case of providing solely grades to students. Furthermore, grades are usually assigned during the middle and the end of the semester. Feedback, on the other hand, can be given frequently throughout the semester. This information is valuable to the students as it allows them to act on the information to improve their learning while still in the course. To facilitate this process, students can be provided with frequent opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge and abilities.
