Has the electoral college outlived its usefulness? is it time to dump the system?

Answer #1

There is no proper use of electoral college. It is mainly used for the selection of the president and vice-president. In a democratic system everything is dependent on election. The selections of the president and the vice-president depend on the vote of the people. There is a particular system to officiate them. there is actually no active function of the electoral college.

Therefore it is the right decision to stop the activity of the electoral college. It is constitutionally formed at a time when there was need of the representation of the states. Now there are many representatives of the states and with direct vote of the representatives the president and vice -president are elected in the Congress. Naturally there is no active function of the electoral college.
