According to the Business Dictionary professional development is the "Process of improving and increasing capabilities of staff through access to education and training opportunities in the workplace, through outside organization, or through watching others perform the job." In your opinion what is professional development and how are you as an employee responsible for professional development? And as an individual apart of the career world, how can you balance your professional life and home life?
One of the most important things in one’s professional life is career advancement which will have a direct impact on one’s personal life too. Most of the companies have on the job training programmes and sometimes they also have off the job training. An employee is expected to update him/herself in order to fit in the changing job role that requires one to spend more than the average time they spend at work which will impact one’s personal life negatively. Some employees themselves keep updating themselves because they keep it as a hobby to update themselves with the latest developments thus advancing in their career both designation wise and salary wise. Once one becomes a family man or enter into a committed relationship, it becomes hard for one to spend more time in the job because spending more time in the job will automatically reduce the time that they spend with their family. Balancing both requires lots of emotional stability, experience and positive approach. What normally happens is that people take their tensions from work to home and home tensions to work thus affecting both. If one is able to treat both the things differently, one will be able to strike a balance between work and home.
