Studies at North-by- Northwestern University documented that after the law was passed handgun homicides in Pennsylvania fell 50%.    What type of study was this ? The Independent Variable is the handgun control laws and the dependent variable is number of deaths caused by the use of handguns. The study was qualitative in nature that incorporated grounded theory as its research design. The mode of data gathering included surveys and record review of the past year's, to obtain a contextually relevant result. Problems with the reporters interpretation of the research could be as follows. Qualitative research poses ethical dilemmas about the subject's right to privacy, confidentiality, and informed consent . Maintaining anonymity is of utmost importance when using the subject's data in the research. The disclosure of the subject's identity increases the vulnerability of the abuse or mistreatment that can be faced by the subject. Hence, it is extremely crucial to maintain confidentiality while using qualitative research.
