The independent variables of the study were attitude similarity, personality similarity and physical attractiveness. The dependent varible of the study was attraction. This is not a true experiment because the subjects were not assigned randomly to the experimental conditions. The results indicated that attraction was significantly related to similarity and to physical attractiveness. Physical attractiveness was also significantly related to ratings of desirability as a date, as a spouse, and to sexual attractiveness. Both similarity and attractiveness were related to the physical proximity between the individuals/
