What are social mores and what role do they play in our personal morality?  Provide examples.

Social mores refer to the essential or characteristic norms, customs and conventions of a society or community. For instance, it is not considered acceptable or mainstream to abuse drugs, particularly those such as heroine and cocaine. From childhood itself, individuals internalize these mores when they are socialised by their families and other social institutions. These become the accepted standards of behavior of social groups, and individuals learn to behave accordingly.
