According to Gibson, perception involves innate mechanisms for which no prior learning or experience is required. He argued that perception is a bottom-up process. In other words, he proposed that sensory information is analyzed in one direction, in terms of moving from simple analysis of raw sensory data to an increasingly complex analysis through the visual system.
