What is it the self interest of us to respect the self interest of others

It is in our self interest to respect the self interest of others. This is because, like we would care about other people, they would also care about us. Only when we would act in a way that we would take care of the actions of other people, or impart them the smallsddf of happiness, they would take care to do the same for us as well. The more generous a person is, the more generosity is given to them by others. Thus to benefit us, we need to benefit others.
