eading 7.1, pg. 371, Question 4: What does the principle of "equal consideration of interests" imply for our treatment of animals? What does it not imply?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

In the context of animal-human relations, equal consideration of interests means giving equal deliberation to the relevant moral welfare of animals as well as humans. Equal consideration of interests says that animal and human interests are equally important and when there is moral conflict of interests you must consider animal and human interests equally. However, the principle does not state that if animals rights are overlooked, human beings should be treated unfairly too.
