What the two types of jury challenges and how to they differ?
Litigation Law
There are two types jury challenges: Causal and Peremptory. Peremptory challenges are limited in number. Usually, each side gets six. This dismisses a possible juror because they might not be sympathetic to the defense or too sympathetic to the defense, depending on who challenges their position. With peremptory challenges, there is no reason that has to be given for their dismissal. Usually the defense will have more peremptory challenges than the prosecutor. Challenges for cause are unlimited in number. This will dismiss anyone who has a conflict of interest or a bias. Either the prosecution or the defense have rendered them incapable of making an impartial and fair decision in a case. An example might be because of a relationship with any of the parties involved in the case.
