1. Explain the difference between substance dualism and property dualism.
2. According to Churchland, what is the connection between evolution and dualism? What do you think of this argument? Why?
Substance dualism holds that there exist two kinds of substances, the physical and the mental. While the physical is composed of tangible material, the mental is immaterial and has no spatial extension. On the other hand, property dualism holds that there is only one type of substance but two kinds of properties. One substance therefore manifests itself through the mental and physical. Unlike substance dualists, property dualists do hold that there is an ontological difference between mental and physical properties.
