Research indicates that societies with history of child maltreatment in the form of physical, emotional, sexual abuse increases the tendency in the victims to engage in more health-risk behaviors than their non-abused counterparts, increase instance of juvenile delinquency and substance use dirsorers. In countries with lower prevalence of child maltreatment, the proportion of cases involving juvenile delinquents are found to be lower, there is a lesser chance of domestic violence and abuse as experience of childhood maltreatment is directly correlated with instances of abusive behaviour by the victims of childhood abuse later in adulthood.
