To be an educated person one needs to go to school and then college. Getting a degree is formally being educated but true education is not only about having degrees but being modified in one's behavior. Being in control of one's emotions and being rational is being truly educated.

Being educated means being a rational person. It is the training of the mind to walk on the morally right path. It is the modification of the behavior. It is also the cultivation of virtues.

One gets educated by formally going to a school and being trained both morally and getting knowledge. The benefit of education is becoming a civilized person who has the knowledge and skills to find a job and earn his living.
