For learning to write English correctly a person has to be good at grammar and sentence formation but it doesn't require knowledge in pronunciation. For describing something a person needs to have a clear idea about what they have to write. These differences are important because they affect teaching methods. Reading doesn't require intensive teaching like writing requires. Teaching can be specific when the differences are properly understood.
