In my view, authority is most definitely the most powerful weapon of social influence. Human history attests to the fact that for good or evil, authority figures wield enormous influence. Our daily behaviour is regulated by the influence of authority. Authority figures can influence people to kill themselves or kill others. Most of the human population comprises of followers who willingly obey instructions from others and whose opinion can easily be swayed. Therefore, the influence by authority is an incredible source of power.
