Throughout the week, you have learned about speech, language, and communication as separate but related processes. To demonstrate your knowledge of these distinctions, describe a situation in which you experienced a breakdown in communication. Describe how the message was sent, the nature of the receiver’s breakdown, and how the sender repaired the breakdown. Was the breakdown related to the sender’s speech or language, the receiver’s interpretation of nonverbal cues or the situation, or something else?
I am the sender and my colleague is the receiver .
I told my colleague as he came late to office that the manager wants to see him because he was late to office and this was not his first time .
But he failed to understand this because he could not understand english as he belonged to some other culture . So there was a language barrier in between. So To repair the breakdown I called another employee in office who knew his language well and then he repeated my words again so that my colleague understands well.
In this case the problem was with language . There was a language barrier in communication .
