Explain how one becomes information literate and why information literacy is important in today's society

Information literacy involves recognizing when information is needed and efficiently locating it accurately, evaluating effectively using, and clearly communicating information. For becoming information literate we should be; look for previous work, we should go upstream to find the original source, read across many sites to find the view of others about the source we are reading. Stopping and starting over, i.e. circling back. Information literacy is important in today's society as it makes us aware of the details of the knowledge we are acquiring along with its original source.
