examples of both Mechanical and Organic forms of social solidarity?? based on Emile Durkheim
Mechanical solidarity refers to people who live together because of their shared values and beliefs. They have a collective conscience which help the group remain together and support each other. Almost all the civilizations before industrialization belong to this category. It focuses more on their race, ethnicity, religion etc.
Organic Solidarity on the other hand, is based on the work people do, especially with the invention of urban societies more people have come together from different places to work together thus depending on each other. This is characterized by the division of labor thus each labor depending on the other. All the metro cities fall under this category because although people are not internally connected, they live together to satisfy each one’s need.
