What do you think were the most important questions facing the United States at the end of the Civil War? If you had been in charge of reconstructing the nation, what would you have done to solve some of these problems?
The most important questions facing the United States at the end of the Civil War were; rebuilding of the South's infrastructure as after the war. Almost all of the South's industrial centers, agriculture, and railroads had been destroyed as when the slaves were freed with the Emancipation Proclamation, the farmer's lost their cheap source of labor. Southern families had to rebuild their lives, some without the help of adult males. There was an intense need for medical care for the veterans who had fought on both the sides of the war. If I were in charge of reconstructing the nation, things that I would have done to solve some of these problems include; providing proper healthcare for the veterans of both the sides, providing for education and employment.
