Some people have interpreted the gateway drug theory
as indicating that if adolescents could be prevented from
using alcohol and cigarettes, they would also be less likely to
use marijuana and hard drugs. Do you think this is true, or
would they be more likely to use other drugs if their access
to alcohol and drugs was curtailed?
THIS IS PSYCHOLOGY
I think if alcohol and cigarettes are banned people will also stop using other hard drugs because of few reasons such as, the costly nature of the hard drugs, the unavailability of hard drugs, the severity hard drugs cause in terms of irregular functioning in the society etc. If alcohol and cigarettes are banned it would stop many from using anything else because the soft drugs do not cause any abnormality but the hard drugs would cause people behave abnormally as they wouldn't have their senses when the drugs go in. Certain things such as their family, job, social affiliations will be at stake if they get to the hard drugs.
