Now that you have studied all the different theories of psychotherapy, what theory do you feel has the strongest approach for the population you may want to work with? Do you think that you will need to learn more than one approach? Why?
After learning about the different theories of psychotherapy, I believe that Cogntive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is perhaps the best approach for clients with depression. Research has shown that CBT can be as effective as medicine in treating depression and other mental health problems. Furthermore, in comparison with other theoretical approaches, CBT can also be completed over a relatively short period of time. In this regard, knowledge of other approaches is also essential in order to address the unique set of symptoms a client may possess. Ideally speaking, therapy is customized to best address and respond to the needs of the client.
