Answer #1

The Progressive Era may be defined as the period in the history of the United States from the 1890s to the 1920s that was dominated by widespread social activism and political reform. The Progressive reformers began with the thought to get rid of the Victorian ideas about society, including some of the misgivings of Social Darwinism. The main objectives of the Progressive movement included social reform issues such as female suffrage, education, working conditions and child labour. With regard to political reform problems such as immigration, corruption in government, unionization, the problems of urbanization, and industrialization were covered. President Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson were supporters of this movement.
