Were you surprised to learn how limited a parent’s influence can be on a child’s personality? Do you think there should be additional research in this area (and if so, exactly what parts? If not, why not?)
Although a parent's active influence on a child's personality can be considered limited, in some way, they do determine their child's personality patterns by passing on their genetic codes to their offerings. Taken from this view, I was not particularly surprised to learn about these findings. Since research has already established that environmental factors do not play a substantial role in an individual's personality, in my view, we should now focus on the genetic components of our personality structures.
