Short-term theories have become popular in the past number of years due to the pressure from insurance companies and the legal needs to address the clients' presenting problems. With this in mind, why might it be important to consider using solution-focused theory?

Short term theories are concerned more with the past of an individual, and are what a lay man might call quick fix. It is merely a bandaid in place of a large wound, which does not do much good, but is widely used in practice due to the legal and insurance needs.

There is a need to focus on solution.focused theory which are more long term and take into consideration the present and future circumstances as opposed to dwelling in the past.

This helps tackle most problems and gives a fresh perspective, which gives an impetus to to the purpose.
