Rational emotive behavior therapy is based on the ABC theory of personality. Can you think of situations in which activating events led you to specific consequences, even though your beliefs, if you thought about them enough, were the real reason for the consequence you experienced?
I decided to completely stop talking to me friend (consequence) after she ignored a couple of my invitations to meet (activating event). Upon further thought and reflection, I do realise that my beliefs also had a role to play in the consequence. For some time now, I’ve been feeling she has more interesting set of friends now, because of which she does not to spend her time with me anymore. This belief, triggered by my observations of her lead me to severe our bond.
