Please identify your top three sources of stress. Discuss your coping strategies and explain whether they are helpful in managing the stress in your life. Explain why or why not.
The three most important sources of stress in my life are:
1) academics: with an increase in academic pressure, there has been an increase in competition, this competition makes me try to Strive for the best. The quest to be the best at times builds up in the form of frustration, which causes issues with mood and anger. 2) decreased hours of sleep: has been another issue as in order to look up to the competing world, I tend to put in more study hours ultimately compromising sleep. 3) relationship issues: in this age peer group form an important part of life, and any ongoing riff causes emotional disturbances, in turn bringing about stress.
The most important method that I’ve tried to employ is time management and yoga. I try to meditate half an hour everyday in the morning so as to gain insight into the problems that concern me the most and to calm my head down so that I could look for solutions, rather than getting caught up in the problems. Also, I’ve tried to divide my day in parts and put in my efforts to stick to the time table, such that proper time is allotted to proper divisions. Also, I try to take out a leisure hour or a cheat day which could be either music or a deliberate consumption of junk food such that it gives me an hour or a day of relief and I can reenergise and get back to my usual schedule.
