Sometimes you don't know what is causing dissonance. You might be holding contradictory ideas in your head, then dealing with them in a way that doesn't mesh with reality—or is making you feel worse! Why are you having trouble in school, at work or with a friend or family member? To strategize, consider three different situations with different sets of attitudes (for example, work, home, a social club or church you belong to, etc.). For each, write out the contradictory thoughts Then, consider a next step. Remember, a "step" is not necessarily a solution. Sometimes dissonance allows us to grow—it doesn't always need to be fixed. And, sometimes, there are many steps before it is truly dealt with.

Yes dissonance is the mental gap between truth and what people want to believe. Its a mesh with the reality . At work after achieving a target , i expect to get recognised from my boss but boss has no reactions and expressions shows its normal. This point is one of the great example of dissonance. Next step in this regard is to work more seriously to bring something new and to try again and again to make them happy.

At home, after reaching from work i expect to get foods of my choice but my choice always mismatches with the foods kept in actual in my dinning table. Next step in this regard is to try something to arrange according to choice of my own.
