What is the democratic peace theory? In your opinion, is this a valid theory?

Democratic peace theory suggests that democracies would avoid armed conflicts with each other in order to avoid greater damage to their economies and societies. A war or armed conflict means that they would have to lose most of their wealth and other properties thus, getting back from the damage would be very difficult. It would change the face of the country forever because of the economic damage it would undergo. In my opinion, it’s a very reasonable theory because the power of a nation is determined by its economy thus, taking a dip in the economy would make the country weak. Besides not many people in the democratic countries favor wars.
