Answer #1

Gender stereotyping is generalization of gender roles and norms which are attributed to a specific gender. Women are thought to be tame and timid. Women who are strong and fit are not considered lady-like by the society. Likewise, men are ought to abide by the gender specific norms. Masculinity and patriarchy go hand in hand. The society forgets that men, who are supposed to be masculine, are human too. With masculinity comes the pressure of not crying or being emotional, apparently it is only acceptable when women cry. However, when men do, they are not masculine enough. This specific gender norm is very harmful for individuals. Everybody must be allowed to have an out let of emotions. Keeping it within and bottling up only leads to serious psychotic repercussions. Idealized gender norms set by the society that expect masculinity as a primary trait, is very harmful for men as individuals. It is not mentally healthy.
