Outline Kagan’s Temperament Hypothesis of attachment.
Kagan’s Temperament Hypothesis of attachment suggests that infants have an innate personality which may be easy going or difficult which also mean that it’s the temperament and not the genetic make-up that would determine the type of attachment infants would have with the caregivers. Thus, it’s not just the caregivers as a one-way traffic but he suggests that it’s a two way traffic in which both the infant and the caregiver should work together in forming a secure attachment which would last their lifetime. If they have issues during the infancy, the chances are more that they would have that relationship issues throughout one’s lifetime.
