1. What do you currently know about how “society” works? In your own opinion how does society influence you? How do you influence society? 2. What are you hoping to learn about society, groups, cultures, etc. during this course? Again, be as specific as possible.

• 1.Money, office politics, biology, sex, genetics, greed, and powerful organizations are the reasons that things happen in society. People are busy. People are focused on day-to-day concerns and are ready to accept any seemingly reasonable explanation. Money and special interest groups drive politics. Greed and selfishness explain why environmental problems persist.
• The culture - beliefs, values, technologies, symbolism, laws, unwritten rules - also influences the way a society works. Relationships between people and groups also shape a society.
• I live in an eastern society of India.The advancements have been huge,but still the stereotypical attitudes towards gender and religion remain.And currently,these are the hot topics in my society as well.Everyday getting exposed to various opinions on various issues does influence you either postively or negatively,whichever side you choose.I try to look at the positive side and be more secular in my opinions than all the communal talks happening around.
• Society is made by us,we all influence each other though our behaviours and opinions.I try to influence society by putting across my opinions which are more positive and good than spreading hatred messages.I write blogs which focus more on humanity and how we should all stand by each other rather than aganist each other,which I hope makes a difference.
• Society puts certain expectations and beliefs on us,how to behave and what to say,which sometimes we follow and sometimes we dont. And I also act according to those expectations sometimes,like conforming to political beliefs of my immediate family,since I dont wany any conflicts and sometimes you have to conform and not be isolated from others. I gues,,when we are in a group we feel secure than when we stand aganist the society,which makes us conform to things we dont want to but have to. It all depends on the choice you make,whether you want to see a change or just go with what the society is offering.
