Summarize the relationship between biofeedback and stress reduction.
Biofeedback is a mechanism that measures the physiological responses of a body in real time. It can thus be used to regulate these responses as well. The most common application of this mechanism is in stress management for the obvious reason that stress manifests in physiological responses like abnormal heart rate, blood pressure, temperature, perspiration, brain waves, etc. The biofeedback mechanism relies on machines that measures the above mentioned responses. The biofeedback system helps to apply methods like relaxation techniques at the right time and the person can monitor its effect in real time on the screen. Various techniques can be applied by learning what kind of physical response happens in the body currently. Biofeedback strategies can be used to regulate blood pressure, gastrointestinal symptoms, energy level, sleep, pain, etc.
