According to several studies, someone who is a victim of a cyber crime such as identity theft has a relatively high risk of being a victim of the same crime again. Why do you think this is the case?
It has been observed that the users who have been victim of cybercrime, are more likely to be a victim of the same or similar crimes. Many of the users say that the users should be protecting their information , such that they should not get involved. This is because, though the users have started becoming aware of the problems, in their awareness they have become complacent. As a result, the hackers have started becoming more and more upgraded, refining their methods. Also, though being a victim once, they do not allot appropriate security.
Though people get cheated, they do not fail to share their passwords or the consumers click on links in which they would be opening into malicious websites. One of the major reasons is consumer complacency and the quest for free wifi.
