Answer #1

The narrator of the story Rock Springs by Richard Ford is his protagonist Earl. He is a forty year old man who elaborates his hopeless life. He was involved in some criminal activities that put him his life into a complicated events. The story is in first person narrative because the protagonist himself narrates the story because the pronouns, I and me are used to express events. For example, “He smiled at me, and it was not the worried, nervous smile from before, but a smile that meant he was pleased. And I don't remember him ever smiling at me that way again.”
