Answer #1

Problem-focused coping involves handling the targets i.e. the causes of stress in practical by tackling the problem or stressful situation that is causing stress. This reduces the stress as it removes the cause of the stress. For example, in dealing with the financial issues of my life I will have a problem-focused coping.

Emotion-focused coping tackles the emotional issues by giving importance to emotions for example if a working mother feels that her child is having emotional issues due to her absence from home while she is working she may drop her job. Emotion-focused coping is a temporary relief as the approach is not problem-oriented, tacking the root cause of an issue. In tackling the issues of my family and friends I have an emotional approach as I believe in immediate relief for my family member; without being very practical.
