Which of Erikson's stages of psychosocial development do you feel are most important or formative and why?
According to me sixth stage of Erik Erikson's theory of psychosocial development is the most important stage.. Intimacy and isolation are of course important aspects of early adulthood, but they are not the only ones. Early adulthood involves many other issues. This is the time to decide which courses to choose in college, tackling college life. Transitioning from college to work is a very challenging task, as young adult learn to be responsible for the first time and earn money and support themselves financially. This is also time when they leave home and have to make their own decision in life. Dealing with work and finding the right balance between work and family life is challenging. The transition from being single to getting married and to having kids also happens in this stage, which can add more responsibilities. Spiritual crisis or existential crisis are also common, this is when a person starts question the meaning of life and its purpose.
