Answer #1
  • Modern Western worldview was primarily formed by the Indo-European cultures, which believes that there is a constant struggle between good and evil that is clearly delineated and will never be resolved (Shelly, & Miller, 2006). Modern Western worldview also separates spiritual from material, and values from scientific. It also gets the value of what is right and what is wrong fromthe bible.
  • Post Modern worldview believes that the world is made of energy that a person can gain willful control of (Shelly, & Miller, 2006). This “energy” is not of God, it just is there, which is more science based. The problem with this, is that “science cannot give meaning to life”.
  • Modern Western worldview uses biblical teaching that life has its source in God and that humans have a capacity to have a relationship with God in their own personal way.
  • In the postmodern worldview theorists believe in a more holistic approach. Theorists are saying that the world is made up of energy that can be controlled and manipulated. The energy is felt to be nonreligious in nature and thought to be spirit-like.
  • In our reading, it states that, “The Modern Western Worldview good and evil are two different forces battled in internal con?ict” (Shelly & Miller, 2006). Using the modern western worldview, people see the world as evil and heaven as good (Shelly & Miller, 2006) Modern follows biblical or cultural truth.
  • The postmodern worldview states thatthe world is made up of energy that can be manipulated and controlled (Shelly & Miller, 2006). The postmodern worldview assumes moral relativism.
  • The part that I identify with is mainly modern worldview. I grew up with a strong Christian faith and a strong relationship with God. Though other people with different religions and different worldview at times test my a put pressure on me about how their ways are "better", i holdstrong to my worldview as I do my faith.
